What is Anxiety?
Learning about what anxiety is and how we allow it to operate is the first step to putting an end to anxiety.
Like stress, we all experience anxiety from time to time. Anxiety is our physical and cognitive response to something feared. Anxiety is common when we are facing a nerve racking event such as an exam at school or public speaking etc.
Sometimes, however, our anxiety can reach overwhelming levels and remain persistent long after the feared event and/or threat is gone.
Anxiety is prolonged fear or dread combined with our physical symptoms such as:
- Feeling “on-edge”
- Muscle tenseness
- Irritability
- Excessive worry
