5 Steps.

  1. Be nice to yourself – edit that critical voice that tells you that you “should” or “can’t”. Believe in your own competency.
  2. Keep an open mind – be willing to try something new. Sometimes exercises for eliminating anxiety feel strange or contrived at first – stay with it and keep an open mind.
  3. Live in the moment – only think about the right now. Beware of the “What ifs”. When you think and hence worry about things in the future (that may never happen anyway) you are ruining your NOW.
  4. Give Credit where Credit is Due – Again, don’t be hard on yourself. If your anxiety has come on after a traumatic event, give yourself time to heal. Recognize the gains that you have already made – even if small.
  5. Watch you anxious feelings – relax, let them come, watch them, then let them pass like the rest of your thoughts and feelings do each day!
